PT PLN in 2008 booked Rp 3.6 trillion operating profit, with EBITDA, earning before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, Rp 15.8 trillion.
Meanwhile, 2008 earning increased 44 percent from Rp 114 trillion to Rp 164.2 trillion, and operating expenses also increased by 44 percent or Rp 111.5 trillion to Rp 160.6 trillion.
President Director PLN Fahmi Mochtar Friday (17/4) said in 2008, earning from electricity sales increased 10.4 percent compared to 2007.
According to Fahmi, PLN earning increase triggered by the implementation of non-subsidized tariffs program for household, business and public with electric power over 6600 VA (Volt Ampere) and special services provide for B to B customers.
Although there are increases in 2008 income but PLN still had Rp 12.3 trillion net loss or 118 percent increase compared to previous year which Rp 5.6 trillion.
Fahmi explain this loss caused by non-cash exchange rate difference about Rp 9.3 trillion.
