Mega-Kalla to Build Strong Government

Golkar Party Chairman Jusuf Kalla and Megawati Soekarnoputri Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) agreed to build a strong government in the future.

Both are confident, only with strong government, the progress of the nation and the people's welfare could be realized.

In a meeting that took place at Jalan Imam Bonjol, Thursday (12/3), accompanied the Chairman Kalla's were Golkar Party Advisory Board Chairman Surya Paloh, Golkar Party Vice Chairman Agung Laksono and Golkar Pary Chief  Burhanuddin Napitupulu.

Meanwhile, Megawati accompanied by PDIP Advisory Board Chairman Taufik Kiemas and her daughter, Puan Maharani.

According to Kalla, the goal was clear "to become large and developed nation with people enjoy prosperity then strong government needed through honest and fair election".

And Megawati rate the meeting as an agreement between two leaders and she  expected it will continue.

Megawati further mention for the follow up of thursday meeting, it will discuss by both Party central committee, prior to 16 March 2009.

About the Coalition, Kalla explain that the  decision for the coalition will be announce after legislative elections.

Thursday meeting is the second for Mega and Kalla.

The first meeting took place during Idul Fitri a years ago, when Kalla visit Megawati residence at Teuku Umar Street Menteng Central Jakarta.

Prabowo Subianto, Gerindra presidential candidate said Megawati Kalla meeting is an example of good political communication and needs to be done.

Meanwhile, Democratic Party Chairman Anas Urbaningrum appreciate Golkar-PDIP meeting and agree with the issues discussed by both parties.

Democratic Party see the meeting as an ordinary and not something new because it has been start since Golkar and PDI-P meeting in Medan and Palembang on 2008.

Meanwhile, political observers Indria Samego said the meeting made by a number of political party leaders on the eve of legislative election is a new tradition in Indonesian politics.

This kind of meeting not exist during 2004 Election.

Although there are no agenda at all, the meeting could provide a positive experience for national politics.

In Indria opinion, political party leaders meeting  is an effective political ad and could make people more interest to participate to make a vote.
